This is a plea to new and old Heatherwood neighbors who wish to keep dogs as pets and security animals. We love our children, our pets, our homes, our neighborhood security and our peace of mind. If your dog is allowed to bark non-stop and unchecked any time of the day or night, you are violating that peace of mind. You are also in breach of HAHA‘s restrictive covenant banning public disturbances in the Heatherwood neighborhood. Please silence your dogs especially in the late evenings and early mornings. We have many nocturnal animals including rabbits, opposums, raccoons and free roaming dogs that travel freely about our neighborhood triggering concophonies of dark barking episodes that are very disturbing to our peaceful community. We can’t control the wild animals, but you CAN AND MUST control your domestic pets. If you cannot bring your animals indoors, or otherwise control their outdoor barking and roaming, then perhaps you should consider getting a different pet.....before the City of Jackson starts citing and fining you. This is first and foremost a very nice neighborhood of friendly and mutually supportive people who respect each other’s privacy, dignity, good character and peace of mind. Dogs short-chained to trees in back yards, allowed to bark and howl all night and/or to roam freely through our neighborhood off of leashes, simply cannot be tolerated in Heatherwood. Please be a good neighbor. Dr. K.
